Shoppers in Barwell have raised £100 towards the Nepal Earthquake Appeal. Just over £65 was placed in a collection tin by customers of the Londis store on Kirby Road with Devanand Pandala, who runs the shop, rounding the figure up to £100.
The money was presented to local MP David Tredinnick by Mr Pandala and it has been passed on to the Disasters Emergency Committee towards the relief effort following the earthquake on 25th April that killed nearly 9,000 people and injured more than 23,000.
David Tredinnick said, “It’s very pleasing to see the generous response of local people to the situation in Nepal following the devastating earthquake and I would like to thank Mr Pandala for his efforts in raising this aid money as well as his own kind donation.”
