Hinckley Conservatives are campaigning to save the Mount Grace High School site from being sold to developers.
Local residents and parents are deeply concerned by persistent rumours that when John Cleveland College and Mount Grace merge the high school site will become available for yet more housing.
As part of the Conservative team’s campaign signatures are being collected door to door and at local shops.
Local campaigner Jan Kirby says, “Surely local children attending the very restricted site of Holliers Walk School would benefit from relocation to this much more spacious campus with its own playing fields. Such a move would also provide much needed additional junior school places to cope with the increasing demand from all the new housing developments.”
“It would be madness to hand this valuable community facility to developers and we’ve launched our campaign in response to the concerns of parents and residents. We are also working closely with Leicestershire County Council’s lead member for Children and Young People’s Services to find ways of saving this vital amenity for the continuing benefit of local children.”
