The Conservative campaign to stop the Mount Grace High School site from being sold to housing developers moved onto County Hall where local campaigners led by Jan Kirby presented their petition to Leicestershire County Council's Lead member for Children's and Young People's Services, Ivan Ould.
Jan Kirby said, "People have been concerned by suggestions that when John Cleveland College and Mount Grace merge, the high school site will become available for residential development so we've been working to collect signatures of local residents in order that their views are fully taken into account on this important issue. We don't need any new housing in this area of Hinckley and it makes sense for the pupils at the out-of-date Holliers Walk School site to relocate to a more spacious campus with playing fields. Cllr Ould listened carefully to what we had to say and I am hopeful for a positive outcome."
