Since becoming Bosworth’s MP I have been working alongside Alberto Costa, neighbouring MP, to protect our area against the proposed Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange.
We are still awaiting formal confirmation of the next steps and results of the public consultation by Tritax Symmetry, the developer.
Last week Alberto – whose constituency the NRFI will be built in – secured a Westminster Hall debate on this issue with Transport Minister Wendy Morton. The debate was for 30 minutes and, unfortunately, with shorter debates only the one MP is granted time to speak. However I was able to make a few interventions and raise some important points. You can watch those here: Westminster Hall debate on the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange proposals | In Parliament - YouTube
Read the full transcript of the debate and the Minister’s response, here: Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange - Hansard - UK Parliament
Alberto and I will continue to work together on this issue and keep you updated on any new developments.
