David Tredinnick, MP for Bosworth, has today written to the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt MP, to request an urgent meeting to discuss concerns that George Eliot hospital's A&E department has been earmarked for closure.
David Tredinnick said, “Whilst any decisions on the reconfiguration of local health services will be subject to a public consultation, to which I have encouraged local people to make submissions, I cannot ignore the concerns put to me by local residents. It is for this reason that I have asked to see Jeremy Hunt to discuss the matter.”
He added, “I have always campaigned to retain health services locally, and have regular meetings with local health officials to keep up to date with local health plans. Some proposals in the Sustainability and Transformation Plan could improve the quality of local health services, but the threat to George Eliot hospital A&E in Nuneaton could have a negative impact on as many as a third of people in Hinckley and Bosworth.”
The Bosworth MP is also working with colleagues in Warwickshire on this important local matter.
