David Tredinnick, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, has enthusiastically welcomed the Government’s announcement that Leicester Hospitals NHS Trust will receive an investment of £450 million to fund its transformative development programme.
The Trust’s plans include a new maternity hospital, a dedicated children's hospital at Leicester Royal Infirmary, two new 'super' intensive care units with 100 more beds and a new Treatment Centre at Glenfield Hospital, as well as modernised wards, operating theatres and state-of-the-art facilities across all sites.
David Tredinnick said, “I am beyond pleased with this announcement of £450 million new funding for our local hospitals and the positive impact it will have for local people.
“Doctors and staff at Leicester Hospitals NHS Trust have been planning carefully for improvements that will significantly enhance healthcare and outcomes and this huge investment will enable them to put these plans into operation.
“I could not contain my delight when the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock MP, confirmed the funding to me on Saturday. This is certainly the most significant local healthcare investment during my 32 years as Member of Parliament and it will benefit people in Hinckley and Bosworth for years to come.”
Dr Luke Evans, the Midlands GP who is succeeding David Tredinnick as Conservative Candidate for the Bosworth constituency, said, “I’m really pleased to see that the Government is investing in our healthcare in Leicestershire. This is good news for people in the region and I hope will lead to better outcomes for our patients from Bosworth, after all, this is what it is all about.
“I'm looking forward to my meeting with the Health Secretary this week to discuss the big cash injection, as well as raise the troubles currently faced by the Hinckley x-ray department."
