Funding for new testing unit at Hinckley Hospital approved
I am delighted to share with you the excellent news that an application for a Community Diagnostic Centre in Hinckley has been successful!
The NHS proposals for the testing unit include facilities for MRI and CT scans to be carried out at the Hinckley and District Hospital, as well as ultrasound and X-rays. The plans would also include a range of diagnostics services including phlebotomy (blood testing).
This is fantastic news for our community and, given healthcare in our area is an issue I am frequently contacted about, I know that the CDC unit will be a welcome addition to the Hinckley Hospital.
To signal my support for the application I wrote to the Secretary of State for Health, Steve Barclay, and followed up with ministers when Parliament returned for the Autumn session, reiterating the benefits that a local testing unit would bring to constituents.
From conversations with people in our area, I know that bringing these facilities to Hinckley will save local people valuable time. This funding will go a long way towards healthcare provisions in our rural community.
What happens next?
My office and I have been in touch with the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (LLR ICB) and I'm pleased to hear they are moving quickly on this and will be consulting with constituents who wish to be involved in developing the plans.
I will share further updates via my social media and website as and when I have them.
