Bosworth’s MP visits Little Fields Farm ahead of day of support for local businesses
Ahead of Small Business Saturday Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, visited local business Little Fields Farm.
Dale and Samantha moved onto the farm in Barwell in 2010, keeping livestock such as chicken and sheep before opening their e-commerce business which now supplies over 25,000 products to customers both locally and internationally.
Small Business Saturday, a day which recognises and celebrates thousands of businesses across Bosworth, occurs on the first Saturday of December and is in its 10th year.
Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, said: “Small Business Saturday is a wonderful opportunity for people in our community and around the country to support local shops, producers and traders.
“One of the best bits of being an MP is getting to meet with and speak to local business owners, so I was delighted to visit Little Fields and see how Dale and Sam have reinvigorated the 100-year-old farm.
“We all lead increasingly busy lives and the convenience of online marketplaces such as Amazon which offers next, or even same, day delivery is all too tempting. But Small Business Saturday is an important reminder to support the community and shop locally whenever possible.”
Dale Moreton, owner of Little Fields Farm, said: “My wife, Samantha, and I created the online store because we couldn’t find these things locally. We had moved onto the farm but were struggling to source things for the variety of animals we kept, from chickens to sheep, in one place.
“We’ve been fortunate over the years to receive so much support from farmers and producers in and around Leicestershire who, knowing the impact that community encouragement can have for a growing business, have been keen supporters.
“It was great to welcome Dr Luke to the farm ahead of Small Business Saturday, speak to him about how we’re growing the business and ways in which he can support us and other businesses in the area.”
